Announcements

  

  • All Massac Unit #1 Elementary Schools will have registration on August 8th from 5:00-7:00pm and on August 9th from 10:00am - 1:00pm.  Parents of new and returning students should register their students during this time.
  • Tuesday, August 15th will be the first day of student attendance.
  • New students, excluding those registering during Spring Kindergarten registration, should first prove residency with Lisa Monkman at the Massac County Unit #1 School Board Office located at 401 Metropolis Street in Metropolis.  Showing proof of residency can be accomplished with evidence linking you to the address.  New students to the district will also need t bring a valid, state-issued birth certificate.  
  • Physicals are required for all new students to the district along with returning kindergarten and sixth grade students.
  • Blood lead screenings are required of children below the age of 6 if they have not been previously screened.  
  • Book rent for elementary students is $17.  Checks should be made out to Massac Unit District #1.
  • Cafeteria account deposits can also be made during registration.  Checks should be made out to Franklin Elementary School.
  • Free and Reduced lunch applications will be available during registration.

Online Pre-Registration

Online pre-registration is now available for ALL Massac Unit #1 Schools.  You may now complete the paperwork online prior to coming to the school to officially register your child.  Your child will NOT be officially registered until you have finalized everything by coming to the school on one of the registration dates.  Completing these online pre-registration forms will significantly reduce the amount of time it will take during the registration dates.

 

District Registration Dates

  • All Elementary & Junior High: Tuesday, August 8th from 5-7pm or Wednesday, August 9th from 10-1pm
  • High School: 11th & 12th grade - Monday, August 7th from 9-11am & 12-3pm; 10th grade - Tuesday, August 8th from 9-11am & 12-3pm; 9th grade - Wednesday, August 9th from 9-11am & 12-3pm.

 

New Students
Online pre-registration is not available for new students to the district, this does include kindergarten students. All new students and kindergarten students must be registered at the school office.  


Returning Students

The following information is for parents/guardians of returning students in grades 1 through 12 for the 2017-18 school year. For this school year, we are moving from traditional paper based registration to online registration forms. The forms that will be checked and/or filled out online are as follows:

If these forms are filled out online before our normal registration days in August, then all you will need to complete at school are the following:

  • Free/Reduced Lunch Form
  • Add funds to Lunch Account (if desired)
  • Bus Rider Form (if applicable)
  • Pay Registration Fee

Text Tip Hot Line - A phone number has been established in order to report possible bullying, pending fights, or any other possible dangerous situation that anyone feels should come to the attention of the Massac Unit #1 Administration.  The messages will go directly to the Superintendent's phone and will be kept confidential.  You can text or leave a voice mail - you don't need to leave your name.  The message will be immediately forwarded to the person most appropriate to deal with the situation.  We are referring to this as the Text Tip Line.  Please pass this information on to others as you see fit.  The Text Tip Line is 862-772-2873.



Bus Information
- Durham School Services is the provider for your child's bus transportation for the 2017-2018 school year.  If you have any questions or concerns about the bus service, please call the bus company at .




Shop Office Depot - If you purchase any items at Office Depot, please mention Franklin School or the School's ID Number 70033403 when you check out.  5% of what you purchase will go to Franklin School so that we can purchase school supplies. 

Save Those Boxtops - Franklin School will continue with the Boxtops 4 Education program during the 2017-18 school year.  So, remember to save those boxtops over the Summer months.  For more information visit their website at www.boxtops4education.com.  The Franklin P.T.O. will continue to provide prizes to those students and classes that collect the most boxtops. 

Remember, each box top is worth 10 cents, so don't throw those dimes in the trash; instead, throw them in a baggie and send them to school in August.




P.T.O. News - All volunteers who wish to participate in helping with the P.T.O. are providing an important source of support and help to the school.  P.T.O. Officers have been elected for the 2016 - 2017 school year.  They are: Jennifer Larrison, President; Amber Holley, Vice President; Jeremy Holley, Secretary; and Jessica Lewis, Treasurer.
